We purchased a tired, awkward spilt level with fabulous views. We are close to completing the previously unfinished basement but it seems to make sense to Reno the master bath upstairs while we have open access to pipes and electrical. As it stands, there is a virtually useless "dressing" area with a sink at one end. Guests enter through this to access the toilet in the master bath.
Goals:
1. Eliminate the bath/shower combo and install a large double head shower
2. Create a walk-in closet (even if can only be wide enough for rods/shelves on one side)
3. Create a stand-alone guest toilet with access from hall
4. Ideally have a closing toilet in the master bath ( with pocket doors)
Issues to contend with:
1. The ceiling for the stairs leading down to the basement is directly below where the new sink would be-DH says we can route plumbing to the side and conceal
2. Master bedroom is relatively large (18' x 14') but don't want to shrink it too much
I have been ruminating on this for a year but with no design background feel sure I am missing something. We will have a contractor do most of the work
