Thank you thats a good idea Frankie. A few years ago I was going to get a bunch of my mom's willow branches and do that but then she had the trees cut down! I am going to radically trim my forsythia once it stops blooming so those branches might work. They also might sprout in the ground which could be a problem!

Along the lines of the plate flowers try using metals instead! Metal pie plates and bowls even the colored enamel porcelain. I have seen some that were absolutely adorable. And Not easily broken! I spray mine with several good coats of shellac or poly just to help protect them. Even the pizza pans which are very cheap can work.

If you happen to live in an area with farming you can find round plow blades that work well.

Field stone is my go to. One year I made pavers using a loaf pan and cement. I "wrote" one word on each paver with embedded magnetic alphabet letters. It is one of my favorite boarders to this day.

Concrete reinforcing mesh (home depot, etc). Panels are 4 ft by 8 ft. I cut them in half lengthwise and use the cut prongs for legs to push into the ground. You can spray paint them, too. I need to keep my dogs out as well.
