Columnar Cactus Help

Hi! I'm new to this forum and currently seeking advice regarding what I believe to be a columnar cactus. My husband bought me one of those column cactuses that has a brightly colored "blossom" grafted onto it a few years ago. Since then, the grafted portion has died, and the rest has grown into...I actually have no idea what it's doing, but it's interesting. I'd like to repot it, but I don't know what type of soil I should use. Previously, I had been advised to mix a perlite, peat moss, and small gravel mixture, but I only have the perlite on hand and keep reading that peat moss is no longer recommended. What do I need to use instead?

Thanks in advance!
