When closed, the concertina doors shouldn't provide any additional energy efficiency issues than a series of standard doors. The glass panels set into them are all tinted and double glazed. Most important is your orientation and eaves protection, in this instance achieved by the retractable canopy over.

As for bugs, we take the position that you'd never have all those doors open unless you wanted to move in out and repeatedly i.e. for a party or other large social occasion. This would make a fly screen redundant. Instead, we provide a number of smaller windows (like the small square up high over the kitchen, the low windows on the right, and even a some of the windows set into the doors themselves) that are both openable and protected with screens.

We didn't paint the bricks Evans Dianga, they're a combination of red and yellow clay, pressed and fired.
