Bracket - inside or outside?

I am putting together a cabinet and noticed one of the side panels is slightly bent and does not sit flush against the adjacent panel. I am going to use 90 degree angle brackets, one side screwed into the
panel and the other screwed into the adjacent panel. Placing the bracket
inside the cabinet seems to be the "normal" approach, but I would think
outside the panels would provide a stronger attachment to keep the panel
flush -- the sides of the cabinet will not be visible once installed as
it will be in an alcove and the front face extends 1/4 inch beyond the
side panels on each side.

Would attaching the brackets on the outside rather than inside provide a stronger reinforcement? I would be sure that the screws are perpendicular to the plys of the plywood, not parallel with them.

Don't use a bracket...that will be in my opinion a crappy repair that won't adequately provide the fix you want. You don't need a bracket...you need some wood glue and a clamp that will span the back of the cabinet. Squirt in the wood glue uniformly, apply the clamp, clean off the squeeze-out, and let it set for an hour. If you don't have a clamp, you can drill a couple of screw holes through the side panel (but not into the plywood the warped piece is butted up against). Then squeeze glue into the space, put the screws in with a driver drill, clean off the squeeze-out, and let it set for an hour. Either of these approaches will give you a better, stronger, and more professional repair.
