If you want the dining room to be different....My rule of thumb is to use blues, teals & greens in south & west facing rooms & reds, corals, yellows, golds in east & north facing rooms. But the only way to pick the best color for a room is to buy sample cans of 2 or 3 colors to paint on 2 foot by 2 foot poster boards to move around in the room at different times of the day. Before doing that I suggest you add the gold drapes as the colors will change with them.

If you want to pull these rooms together, you need to make them to "talk" to each other. Monroe Bisque is nice a color and if you want to keep a green accent wall, then you should repeat these colors in different shades with your accessories. I recommend bringing in Monroe Bisque into your dining room and lighten up the room and just keep an accent green wall. Then add accessories such as throw pillows to the couch. Then your rust color curtains (to me from the picture) and your dining room rug will relate to each other. I would remove your existing pillows with red and black circles. Go for simpler and solid options.

Seattle Staged, Gayna said she is planning to add gold drapes in the dining room which will give them a good way to communicate. I still think if she is going with a different paint color in that room Gayna will need to follow the paint selection guidelines as suggested. Do you agree?

I think an accent wall would detract from your elegant look.

I like the: gold drapes better, mirror over the sofa better, 2 matching lamps on each side of the sofa better, no accent walls better, aqua & rust decorative glass vases on the etagere better.

I like the way the gold drapes repeat the gold in the floor, the brass lamps, the brass in the mirror and the gold-camel throw.

Bisque panels might be better than the ivory panels.
