My after school group has been given an opportunity to have raised gardens. Iknow everyone here is well versed in container garden planning so I just wanted to run the plans by the forum and see what (collective) you say.

Also, I had a disagreement with the gentleman at the store: he says we should be using garden soil, I say we should be using potting soil/container mix. What say you? IIRC, garden soil is a no-no in containers........

We'll have two boxes 4x4x1 and one rectangle 4x8x1. We're planning on 2.5 feet of space between the boxes, and 3 ft between the boxes and the fence. I figure this should be enough space for students carrying things in and moving about.
