Stainless steel appliances has been used for many years and quite versatile with any style of kitchen. If anything, your kitchen cabinets will be out of date before the appliances. I would invest in a quality line to get the best use out of them.

Agree with Dytecture....cabinetry and counters will go out of style before the stainless steel will. I think people still have too many horrible memories of cheap avocado/orange/white plastic appliances to throw out stainless steel as an option...as far as I can see there are still no other options for elegant-looking appliances at a price-point that the average home owner can afford.

We are specifying panel-ready appliances (refrigerator, d/w) a lot because clients want to move away from stainless. However, avoiding stainless altogether requires some work since there's still the stove and oven to deal with (black is a good option) and of course the sink, fittings, hardware, etc.
