Love the idea of drapes! But what about for privacy? Sheers???

And how many panels? 4???

You could put a bamboo shade for the larger middle window and then for the two outer windows softer sheer curtains in a navy,olive green,burgundy,a nice rich warm color.

I would address each of the 3 windows with an individual shade so that you can have privacy from the street. Use a soft white that matches your trim in a silhouette type shade or a light filtering pleated shade or honeycomb. Then use drapery panels to bring in color. Ideally they would be about 20" wide and would fall half on the wall and half on the window, but you don't really have that much wall space so you may have to have them cover a bit more of the windows. Place one panel on each of the outer edges and have them fall on the wall as much as possible. Then, you also want drapery panels in between the smaller and larger windows. The trick here is that your drapery rod will have corner brackets so what you have to do is have two drapery panels in those corners. So, for instance, if your outer panels are 20" wide, you should have two 10" panels in each of the corners so that the panels can straddle the brackets and be centered properly. So you really have 6 panels although it will appear that you have 4. Obviously they will have to be custom and be lined so that they have fullness and hang properly. Julie is right - a rod outside the bay is a great idea. There really isn't any room for a decent size rod above the windows.

I would suggest to stay away from putting drapery in that window it will really close in the space. I would actually recommend going with a silhouette type blind it will keep a clean modern look to the space.

Silhouettes - inside mount. They are elegant, modern, and keep the look contemporary. You can add a block of colour in a non-operable drapery panel on each end.

OR, you can go fully operable drapery in a matching colour to your china pattern - so that when you are entertaining, the room feels pulled together! the rod will need to be ceiling mounted. AND, for your design aesthetic, you don't want a large rod. 1 1/4" is fine.

You may opt to add a gorgeous double-dyed area rug for a bursts of colour too...
