Hi, The rustic pine cabinets and wall can be stripped of their current finish and resealed with a clear coat of finish. I'd pass on the natural slate floor. You have plenty of that flavor already in the pine. Check out porcelain tile in a very simple texture and light color. Steer away from more blonde or orange tones in the floor. A sudued light grey, or limestone. For the countertops look at limestone coloring and think simple and clean. Backsplash can be a natural limestone with a little sparkle. Keep this simple too. For the Island, select a top stone that is deeper in color than the rest. Replace the pendant light over the Island with a lantern in bronze. Switch out the cabinet pulls with a simple bronze bar pull. Overhead, think about painting the wood slats between the beams in a color to match the limestone. Now for color, use new barstools without backs. The frames of these can be a deep brown and upholster in apple green (or another color that appeals to you). Use bronze nailheads to trim the stools.
For a new table you might consider something like a root base done in cast stone you can find this look among outdoor furniture suppliers. Or a clean contemporary table with an "X" trestle base reminiscent of picnic tables. Chairs can be same style as your stoools but for fabric use a small scale pattern like leaves or twigs. The fabric for the chairs should have at least a bit of the color you put on the barstools. Trim the chairs with bronze nail heads too.
Last, take the gold mirror out of the room and use photos of natural settings in color and in more than one size. keep the grouping of photos tight and clustered across for the table. Leave the remaining walls clean. Change the fixture over your table to a small iron chandalier with "candles" and small paper shades. Use a flat weave rug under the table. The rug can be a small scale stripe that echos your accent color.
