Depending on what your style in, you could hang a wreath on the wall, and put some potted flowers and green plants on the shelves. If you like country decor your choices are almost endless! Search Pinterest for some great ideas. I think a chair or bench would look very welcoming. Have you thought about painting your door a pretty color? In the photo it looks like it is stained.

The front door is stained. Someone else mentioned the idea and I know it would look nice, but I just hate to paint over the beautiful wood. I may have to think that over a little more.

You need a welcome mat! Not just for decor, but for people to wipe their feet before they enter. Some plants in small pots on stairs. If the door opens swinging outward, you can't put much there, and you need to keep the path to the door clear. How about a vertical garden? You can find DIY instructions, and use shade plants, like hosta and ivy.

For the welcome mat, would you recommend a normal size or something larger? I originally bought the small runner by the chairs for the front door, but it seemed too small for the space.

Something large, at least the width of the door, and colorful to go with the rest of the porch. A colorful pattern doesn't show dirt and wear as much. For the wrought iron, if you have access to salvage yards, or antique stores, an iron fence remnant, or piece of gate would look great, and fit in with your decor.

So I planted some flowers today and that has helped a lot! Still on the lookout for a welcome mat and wrought iron. I will definitely be going to a salvage yard to find a piece. I went to a store, but the pieces they had were insanely overpriced! Thanks everyone!

I looks great!! I like the wreath hanging between the two windows. You could also hang a wreath above the blue shelves, and a hanging fern always adds a nice touch to beautiful porches such as yours!

Crazy story! There used to be 2 ferns hanging where the windchimes are now (don't know if you can see them or not), but a neighbor told me he was going to water his and a snake fell out! Since then I've been a little wary about that. Maybe I'll put one someplace else in the yard not so close to the house lol.

And the wreath was on the door, but the way the house faces you can't see it from the street so we decided to move it between the windows and now that's where we always put one!

Looking great, see if you can pick up old wrought iron gate and spray paint it. Also I did something similar to this first pic, they are rubber mats, cheap as chips, spray painted white and then distress with a steel wool pad. I hung them up and they look like wrought iron, I have so many compliments, I just wish my hubby wouldn't tell everyone they are just rubber mats and he has trouble wiping his feet on them when they are on a wall lol

Update!! We FINALLY got artwork to go on the porch! I found this sun at Ross for like $12! Thanks everyone for all the help and inspiration! Blenheimnewzealand, again I love the wrought iron mat idea, but I couldn't find a mat with a nice design that I would want to put up. Also, given the option would you paint the storm door? If so, what color?
Bonus! In the meantime we made a seating area under the tree and I wanted you all to see it. We found an old chandelier and painted it and it looks really cool!

I never would have thought of that idea to spray the mats white. Very cool. Does look like wrought iron. And less heavy to hang up.
