Refrigerator Issue

I have a approx. 8 year-old LG frig with ice maker. I believe the ice maker is shot and not covered by my home warranty. Freezer still works, but there is "snow" that is forming. I suspect repair costs will be high.

Is it worth it to pursue repair or just go buy a new Samsung french door frig?

Have you tried defrosting and the entire fridge and freezer? We had a problem with our Kitchen Aid fridge,,,the freezer was working, but not the fridge. There was some ice that was blocking the circulation..once it thawed, everything was fine.
I don't recommend Samsung for the fridge. My SIL had one and she had too many problems with it (same for the washing machine).

I didn't do a full defrost. I will try that. Sales person at Lowes recommended Samsung and to stay away from GE since GE sold business...I didn't verify that piece. Thanks.

I read some good reviews about LG...there was a discussion about fridges, but I can't find it right now..You might want to look here for discussions regarding fridges.
