So is this your actual furniture? A single larger rug with furniture pulled up to it will help the space cohere.

I would probably face the couch to the stove. You aren't taking advantage of your space well. As groveraxle said, pulling furniture in to a large rug would help define the space. Use the wall space for bookshelves, a small desk/table. You could also define your space better with how you hang artwork. If you leave the sofa on the large wall, you need a large picture over it (could add smaller ones to each side) to anchor the sofa - and your pictures are too high in general. Bring them down closer to the furniture. Main pictures need to be hung at eye level - generally a woman's eye level - not that of a 6'4" man. I'd also consider adding something on either side of the stove (against the wall) to balance that wall more - low bookshelves or two small chests (similar size but don't need to match). It looks like storage is probably an issue and that could help.
