What kind of light do you have in the cans?

I think it could look nice with trim done, furniture in, accessories placed, and the full lighting plan installed (lamps, etc.), but that's just personal preference related to the color.

What do you dislike about the color? Is it too much of something or not enough of something else?

Is your kitchen bricky red? Maybe just lighten this up several tones with a hint of lavender. it will give your neutral with a spicey back-story and flow nicely into your kitchen. Use red accents and darker greens and browns. Are you having nice covers with cut outs made for your radiators..that could turn into nice shelving. just thinking out loud.
