Kitchen Colors?? Help!

We want to keep our current cabinets and countertop, but change the cabinet and wall color. Ideally the hardwood floors that are barely visible in the first picture (back left through the doorway) will extend through the kitchen some day, and their cherry color with the orange-ish cabinets would be a bit much. We thought black for the cabinets, but I'm afraid it will appear too heavy or dated with the raised panel cabinet fronts. Any other suggestions or opinions on black? And wall color?

I attached a photo of the granite, you can really see how much orange is in them. We would like to subdue that as much as possible.

Cherry floors and black cabinets seem to dark. Cream would look good with your current floor and cherry in the future. If cream cabinets and white trim together bothers you, as it does some people, consider an antique glaze over them. I would use black hardware on the cabinets. Wall color a gray green like BM glazed green or tavern gray.

Your cabinets are absolutely gorgeous with this warm, rich wood. I can't bear the thought of painting them. What needs to change, IMHO, is the backsplash tile. Why not something lighter? That goes for the paint. AND, Your granite is amazing! I would browse Houzz pics for ideas, before going through the expense of painting the cabinets.

Yes a beautiful look as far as the bones go! This is a difficult dilemma, but it may be easier than we think. If the intent is to lighten the look and the floors stay as is then painting the walls a very light pewter greenish color that goes with the color in the countertop will help, as well as lightening up the backsplash to a creamy color and decorating with a lot of cream and shiny pewter or brushed nickel will help. (Brightening up the hardware will help) This way there is not a lot of expense in changing cabinetry. If the budget is larger, then considering other options based on other info might be worth considering! Thanks for asking!

Great kitchen! I would paint 1st. Sherwin-Williams has a good neutral called Interactive Cream. If the budget allows I would also change the backsplash. A simple subway pattern, since the cabinets are more detailed. maybe a travertine. Change the hardware too. I would upgrade from a single knob to at least a 3" If you really want to paint them, a new trend seems to be black bottom and cream top on the cabinets. Its a great look.

I think black will look stunning. Maybe do creamy white uppers if you're worried about the heaviness.
