What to do about coves?

My idea was to make an art gallery but I would have to custom paint what I want in the space or my other idea is to wall paper the coves and mount musical instruments, but then what to do about the rest of the area. should I add moldings around the coves and maybe some wainscoting from the bottom of the cove to the floor. I do know what I want for the ceiling. I will add old world style tin tiles and then a nice crown molding. looking for ideas, pleas help

The first picture offers a trim inspiration with the same color as walls for the niche. The second picture which is awful, at least has an interesting ledge built in the bottom of cove to allow you to display something. If you are going with a tin ceiling, I would paint the niche a bit darker than the walls so it is tone on tone and let your woodwork and tin ceiling be the stars. I would not hang or place anything in niche, let the architecture of the area carry the day.
