I would go lighter and cream would be nice. Keep it simple since there's plenty of pattern in the granite. Don't let the backsplash compete with it.

Yes, stop where you are to go with lighter, less busy design & color> Be sure to install under cabinet LED lighting on a dimmer while you're at it. You won't be sorry. So glad you had the same feeling about the darker backsplash.
