I have a similar space in my entry and leave it bare. For me, putting things there just calls attention to an awkward spot. Interested to see what others come up with though.

I agree, but don't forget to climb up and vacuum it once in a while, especially if the top of it can be seen from the stairs or landing.

what is on the other side of the wall up top? any chance for a doorway out to a nice reading spot? otherwise leave it bare. this is the 3rd or 4th one of these i've seen in dilemmas in the last 6 months and dont know what builders have in mind.
