I would also use fabric- parson chairs would look great and you could even use a pattern if you like. Watch the sales at Kirkland home store- they put them on sale for $59.00 and they hold up great! I rotate mine like once a month so we not always sitting in same chair- also sprayed them with Guardsman fabric protector which is awesome!!!

I like the picture with all upholstered chairs. It's not your sofa that will drive the color for your dining room, it's neutral. It is the rug, assuming they are in an open space. Either a blue or grey from the rug will look lovely. It's your call as to which one appeals to you.
Does the fabric have Scotch Guard or some kind of protection on it?

I like the 4 grey armless chairs with the two larger head chairs. It would be lovely to have an area rug that was more contemporary to go with your furniture but not necessary. Just to give you an idea.

Yes they are all in the same open space.... I am leaning towards doing four grey armless chairs will two arm chairs.

I really like that rug shown in possible navy blue and white. I will probably change it down the line as I just purchased this one.
