i just lay bird nettings on the top. my strawberries are being attacked by birds and rabbits.

I think wasps will also gnaw them.

If the net is lying n the plants, birds stand on the plant and use the net's holes for access to the fruits.

Must prop the netting above the plants.

Trying strawberries like this, we will see how it works.

Good luck, everything in my garden eats them and the birds are the least of it.

The leaves Will the natural poles to prop up the netting.

I made teepees out of bamboo (like for runner beans), draped the bird netting over that, and pinned down the edges with bricks. That finally kept the birds far enough out that they couldn't reach through to my berries. It's nice to be able to eat my own berries!
