Crazy situation! Glad to hear your ok...

It is! There is still a lot of flooding out there right now, and some power outages. I hope the rest of our Houston members (and surrounding areas) didn't get water in their homes last night, or get stranded out there. A friend of mine got stuck in Pasadena because there was too much water and no way out! She's safely home now though. My mother and grandfather (about to turn 90) in Pasadena are fine, no water in their houses, but it came really close.

During Tropical Storm Allison (2001), they got several inches of water inside. Back then, my mom and brother (he still lived at home) had to swim down to my grandfather's house (down the street), to check on him because there was no power and no phones, and found him and my great uncle sitting on the kitchen table, holding the dogs in their laps. My grandpa said at the time that he was glad that my grandma wasn't alive to see that. 20+ inches of rain fell during Allison. All this rain and the flooding with people getting trapped overnight is reminding me of all that I guess.

Glad to hear you are OK, Brittie! I hope everyone will be and that this crazy weather settles down.

Sympathies to you and everyone down your way, and hang in there as you deal with all that moisture. It's nice to be out of drought in our lower Plains states, but c'mon - enough is enough! Be safe and don't enter flowing water in these situations - we've had people swept away in flash flooding incidents recently.

Stay home, don't go anywhere, be safe. I'm glad you're ok, and hope your car is not in the water.

It's pouring rain again today. :/

Glad to know you're okay! The iris should be, too. I grow them in pots sunk a foot into the pond.

Just checked the news, saw a lot of cars in the water. Hope your street is Ok.

I don't think my immediate neighborhood had any homes flooded. Theres been a break in the rain and the sun is out right now, so hopefully that is helping to dry out some of the bad west Houston flooding. Supposed to be more rain later, but hopefully that will fizzle.

Those photos we have been seeing are pretty scary with people stuck on the freeway overnight. I am glad you are at home safe and not flooded out. Ddiane

Brittle, thanks for letting us know that you and your family are safe!
