UMass Extension Landscape Message May 29, 2015

Landscape Message: May 29, 2015

"Earlier in spring, we were advising people not to rush to judgement on
the apparent injury to shrubs from winter cold and desiccation. At this
time, it can be safely concluded that stems showing no signs of growth
are dead. Shrubs with the most damage include: rhododendrons,
hydrangeas, Clethra, Cotinus, and Deutzia. Stems showing no signs of growth can be pruned out or back to live tissue."

BERKSHIRE REGION - Ron Kujawski, Horticultural Consultant, reporting from Great Barrington.
