A creative use of floor lighting - what do you think?

I have a hall to light and the ceiling is a duct. I'm not a fan of wall sconces, but need some light in this hallway. Has anyone ever used a wall-mounted "stair light", mounted it high on the wall, and upside-down to reflect light off the ceiling? I'm trying to get creative here to solve my lighting challenge. Anyone think this would work?
