yes, anchor the room with a large enough rug. and my only change would possibly to keep only one art peice above the couch - preferably the painting, it's a tad busy with all three and lower your hanging style. it's a teensy high as will the peice above the tv. but I think you have very good skills. you must be tall! :)

also I would think about moving the lamp to the other side of the couch to balance out the book shelf.

I would add an area rug and move the lamp. I do like the items that are above the sofa, but not together. The piece above the TV is too high and too small. I would maybe add too more pillows to the couch is a block color slightly larger then the ones that are on there already. I love all of the pieces that you have in your space, and you are doing a wonderful job with your decorating!

Okay I've seen homes where the owners clearly had no sense of interior design (dare I say cherry red and pepto bismol pink?) but your place looks very nice! What you need is just a few elements to tie everything in. Your furniture is very clean and sophisticated, I like the accent pillows, consider adding a faux sheepskin throw. The collage on the wall above the sofa is too varied. Keep one of the pieces and accent around it. I also suggest moving that lamp (that's next to the book case) to the other side of the couch. It's a bit too crowded in the corner with the book case and window. And finally, you need a rug and curtains. Since you have a lot of muted tones try to bring in some colors in this area.

A mirror collage would help make your space appear bigger than it is.

Or a large antiqued mirror like this would eliminate putting extra holes in the wall.

This rug here is subtle but brings in the colors of the surrounding room.

Light pink curtains would pull in the sophisticated feminine vibe your room has without drawing too much attention.
