I'm pretty sure the column isn't structural from the previous post, so I came up with some other designs.

This is a design that reflects some input from Houzzers from a couple of months ago; this also reflects no moving of utilities.

I would use the bump out next to the doorway to your advantage and put the fridge there so it's flush with the cabinets without having to sacrifice fridge space with a counter depth fridge. Then run your cabinets along the wall to the right and add an island with seating.

I like the designs you came up with, but when I put them to scale, I keep coming up with 3' walkways. I know that is acceptable as the minimum distance, but it seems small.

Do you have ample storage in your kitchen/house? If not, I would strongly advise against a layout like your initial posting. Corner cabinets waste a ton of space. As far as 3' walkways, I think it's a personal preference. I would rather have two 3' entry points than a single 4' entry as in your first and third designs. Kitchens with one entry can become bottlenecks with more than one person in the kitchen. Have you considered a moveable island?

er612, I really like the use of space on your designs, the only problem is that the place where you located the range on your first designs is the only location for a back door; there is a basement staircase the moves along the back of the house. I though about replacing the double windows in the dining room with a slider, but the head height was too low if I extended the deck in that direction. I appreciate your input and will definitely consider a movable island option.

I like er612's ideas for the rectangular banquette table w/ storage wall, fridge recessed into the job in the wall, and island w/ two 3' entry points into the kitchen.
