Much needed kitchen makeover! what color walls?

Any recommendations?

The kitchen is very spacious but I hate the paint color and countertops.

The cabinets are two toned like blue/white

Do you plan to keep the 2-tone blue and white cabinets? Will you be replacing the countertops? What colors are in the mosaic backsplash tile? (The picture's too small to tell>) What colors are in the adjoining rooms? More info please!

Thanks for your feed back guys ! unfortunately these are the only two pictures I have of our new home. I will try to take more when we move in

yes I plan to keep the 2 tone cabinets ! I think the countertops will stay as is. I think paint color and design concept is what I need help with the most. Thinking about a round kitchen table and I love the whole bench idea as well. I want to replace that fan with a contemporary chandelier or something

I usually don't say this, but I think a gray or a white would work best. Nice big kitchen! Looks like a great space.

Paint the cabinets white. Replace the hinges with hidden hinges and replace the pulls by patching existing holes and re-drilling. A single knob can work on doors and drawers and can be a cleaner, less busy look.

Remove all the tiny pics, etc from the walls.

Replace the tie-back curtains with a roman shade.

The backsplash is busy and has stopped in an awkward place. If you ever decide to replace the counters take the opportunity to re-do the whole backsplash and remove the 4" section that matches counters. Or no backsplash at all would be better since there's not a good place to end it near the window.

Paint a color that will look nice with the floors. Sage green would look wonderful with your all white cabinets.

leelee gave some excellent advice. I would also paint that corner cabinet white to flow with the cabinets. My eye stopped there and I winced ;)

Putting together a kitchen color palette can be challenging!
Here is a great article that might help: Kitchen

Id say revamp the cabinets by giving them new knobs and a fresh coat of white paint. Then for your walls choose a colour either in your countertop or backsplash and do it in a slightly darker shade. By the pictures it looks like you have a few different grey, grey/taupe colours you can draw from.

thanks guys ! in regards to painting the walls in the kitchen is there a specific brand of paint you like/suggest for the kitchen?

this is a DIY project for us so I am excited ! how would you paint the kitchen if you're starting from scratch? I was thinking of purchasing a primer beforehand, than paint, and than a sealant. Do you think this is all necessary or maybe not?
