No worries about being late with the Zelda block, Linda. I haven't quite finished the last one but am antsy to start the new one. :-) So, that's one of the things I'll be doing this week-end. Also, I have almost half of DD's 50th BD quilt together and want to work on that, too.

Yet another big family day here today, and some tomorrow. Hoping to get to bring out the machine tomorrow afternoon - June lotto blocks are cut and ready to sew and assemble. Oh, how I've missed you, Mr. Machine!

We are finally nearing the end of house painting and reorganizing.

I won't be sewing this weekend but hoping to get back to normal routine in the next few weeks.

I missed the Zelda blocks.......or I read about it and forgot it, which wouldn't be unusual for me!!

Can someone clue me in?

I hope to get some sewing in this weekend. If not, I am going to Atlanta this week for work, so I will take a machine with me. :) I like that I can drive on the Atlanta trips and take stuff with me to do in the evenings in the hotel. I did finish the Wild Child top last weekend. I will post a photo later as soon as the fog goes away.

I hope to get some quilting in this weekend, but my husband and two of our sons are coming home from a camping/fishing trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness today, which means there will be tents, boats, fishing gear, coolers, etc., all over everywhere. Yuck!

I had our carpets cleaned last Wednesday during a pouring rain. It was so humid that nothing was drying. It was only in the 60s outside, so I had to set the A/C down to 64 degrees to get it to go on. I could have hung meat in the house, it was so cold. But the carpet is finally dry, and everything is back in its place. What a job!

Prepared the backing and batting for two tops and then company dropped in. Sewing over! Maybe tomorrow.

I was chugging right along sewing the BD quilt, cutting squares for the new Zelda block and I get a text.........my sister-in-law is back in the hospital.....it took the wind right out of my sails.......think I'll stop everything and start working on her comfort quilt.

I'm sorry to hear that, Sharon! I hope all turns out ok. My SIL is in the hospital, too. She had a colonoscopy yesterday to try to determine what is wrong. We haven't heard any news yet.

Yes, Sharon, it does take a long time! So far they have determined she's bleeding internally, but haven't figured out where or why yet.

Oh, Donna, I'm so sorry. You'd think they would be able to track that down. There are times the medical people surprise me with all they don't know and don't know how to find out except for putting the patient through test after test after test. Hope they find out quickly.

Here it is, Sunday evening, and I am finally getting a chance to get in my sewing room! We have our son's dog (and she is a handfull). We had a neighborhood garage sale yesterday and today was a city event "Open Streets" so we rode our bikes to that and hung out this afternoon. Now for some down time. I am going to try to sort out some fabrics for a charity quilt for church and do some cutting. It's a good start!

Sorry to hear about that Sharon and Donna. Donna I had a relative that was bleeding internally and losing a significant amount of blood, and they determined he had gall-bladder poisoning, unfortunately they did not catch it in time though. I hope they can figure out what is causing your SIL to lose blood. I spent part of this afternoon trying to get a good layout plan for my son's MineCraft quilt. It's gonna' be a twin size and I have never made a quilt that size before. I am also slowly making some quilted Christmas ball ornaments for my Mom's Christmas present - I have finished 2 and would like to make her 4 more, though I have not decided yet if I want to do 3 pairs of 2 with each pair being a unique color combo or just do them all with the same fabric so they all match.? I am contemplating cutting some fabric and making 2.5" jelly roll strips, that way I could use them for making quilted ball Christmas ornaments and scrappy quilts and bindings. I am thinking about getting a yard and a half of flannel and making a small temporary design wall above and behind my sewing desk (we have paneling in my sewing room right now, but later on want to put dry wall up and paint. How much does flannel usually cost per yard and would it be cheaper to just wait till this fall and get a twin flat flannel sheet at dollar store or kmart? - would love some suggestion on this.

Thanks, ladies...turns out my SIL has a pretty severe case of colitis. Now they are determining the best treatment for her.

Sandra, the ornaments sound great! I think I remember seeing a picture of your first one. Years ago I made a bunch of pot holders with that folded star technique. I'd say if you have a lot of different Christmas prints make them all different!

Sandra, same as Sharon...still using the back of an old vinyl tableclot with a flannel back...works great!

We had a family party out at the Port a week or two ago - bought the largest flannel back table cloths that I could find...something like 52 x 90?? Anyway, they were 3.50 at the Dollar Store and would have just tossed them after the party but two of them didn't even get used...tho we opened them so cannot return them. Now I have a great use for them!!! Thanks for the idea, ladies!!

Donna glad they figured out what was wrong with your SIL. Thanks for the feedback....... I do have a large flannel backed table cloth that I used as a design wall at my last house, but I need to look for a smaller one to go above my desk, as I want to use the larger one for a large design wall later in my sewing room once we get things dry walled and painted, but that may be a while yet.

Sandra, you could fold up the large one to fit your space. :) Or just let it hang down behind the desk. I'm all about making do! LOL

Hi, I saw the diagnosis for Donna's SIL and hope it is ok to post this. I had a blood vessel that was pinched and died in my colon and was bleeding internally. I was int the hospital 3 days and everything worked out ok. But I wanted to mention if she needs to ask her Dr. if it is ok to use NSAIDS. I was perscribed some and it caused bleeding and blookclots and was in ICU. I was just concerned for her. Pardon me if this is an intrusion. I love all of your quilts and quilting skills.

Hi, Renter - thank you for the advice! I will pass it on. She is sensitive to a lot of things, so NSAIDs are probably already on her list of things to avoid. :)
