Can you sketch a floorplan for this concept? Might leave an opening at either end of the wall so I'd still have a wall for the piano, as it should be on an interior wall. What about open arches the size of that transom up top? That would certainly add an open feeling, but you'd have better access to the other rooms and still retain a wall to help with arranging your furniture.

The piano is only temporary. I really want to utilize the "gathering area" in my kitchen. I was thinking of placing a nice island/bar and chairs where the tv is currently situated, and move place an entertainment type cabinet on the wall where the bookcase sits. Also thought about a small sofa or love sear facing the tv. I would like to remove the sconces on the great room side of the wall, and move the entertainment center to the "true" center of the wall. I have had so many ideas for this wall over the past 10 1/12 years, but have not had the resources to work on it until now. However, I am still on a DIY budget...I'm going to send the original floor plan, and my pitiful attempt of sketching existing furniture, and additions. Thanks again for responding to my note.
