Here is a link to some New Orleans homes..many of which have the double porches and similar styles to yours I thought. You can also take a picture of your home and at a local paint store, they have a program in which you can experiement with color. I also think I remember someone on Houzz providing a site in which you can do the same.

But to your question......a lovely very soft yellow such as Benjamin Moore Counting Stars with all white railings and column is a very classic and elegant look. The very pale yellow with the green of the landscape will give the home incredible "wow" factor.

I would suggest you keep the house a creamy white and then have snow-white trim. I cannot see the roof color, but I would suggest you get plantation shutters that are the same color as the roof. For the porch ceilings and porch floors, you might choose a very pale shade from the same color family as the roof and shutters.

The roof is a
light silver metal color. I painted the samples that I had already bought
last night. I settled on the BM Thornton Sage for the body. It's
very pretty and not too dark. I tried the BM Hale Navy on the sashes
and it was a pretty color but didn't look good to me. After sulking
for a little while I tried the BM Wedgewood Grey on the floor. I
like that color but not there on the house. Now I'm really starting
to be disappointed. When I painted the Wedgewood on the floor
it was next to SW Porpoise that I tried before and the two colors
together looked good but Wedgewood was too blue. So
then I tried the porpoise on the sashes and it looked good! The Thornton
sage along with the brown color in the porpoise really complement each other
and for the first time I really liked the creamy trim too! So I have
decided!! Thornton Sage for walls, creamy for trim and porpoise for the
sashes and wooden porches! But I tried the SW White Raisin and it's too
gold or something. It did not go. Now I need a door color and I'm
leaning towards BM Rhubarb but I'm afraid it's too much? Here are some
photos. The top color on the pillar and in between the windows is the
color I picked. Help me pick a door color please!!

I like your color choices. Except for the door, I think the BM rhubarb is to light and pink. Have you considered a purple, and I don't like purple. Your house is just telling me it wants a deep dark purple, maybe like BM black raspberry.

Geez... Colors were just something that pulled up on a search I did for historic colors. So no,no,no they aren't all wrong, just examples of color hues she could look into. Not every front door has to be white, and she is going for a look that 'stands oct' and is why she already picked the colors she's using for two areas. I like the idea of a darker purple hue, it would make the other colors she has chosen really 'pop'. I'm sure she will make the right choice, and if it doesn't turn out, it's paint and another color can easily be tried at little expense. It is such a cool house, in a lovely area.

I think the darker purple door next to the green of the body of the house will look fantastic.

I tried Plum Dandy, nice color - but it was too Victorian for me. I also tried lilac and thought it was too beachy.

Take a look at BM Eagle Rock. It goes beautifully with Thornton Sage.

ooh, yes, it looks nice online. That is along the same line as the charcoal I was considering except lighter. I think this may look good because it will be closer to the roof color that is lighter than charcoal (light metal). I wonder if it's too light? Right now I'm leaning away from any color except an off white, very light taupe or gray with only the floors, door and possibly the sashes a contrasting color. The floors and sashes would be the same color. Then the door can be any color and will be the point of interest. I feel like I must sound crazy changing my mind all the time but I feel like I had to try all of this to get where I am and closer to a decision. Thanks for your help!

Barbara- No you are not crazy. Painting an entire house is a commitment and it is very good that you are being thoughtful and fully reviewing your options.

That is great that you have put the color on the house in a way that you can actually see it in the natural light that exists in your location. All of us on Houzz try to give our best recommendations, but when all is said and done we are not at your site and don't truly know what is your hearts desire.

FYI, Screen doors are temporal to when the house was built, especially if in the Southern half of the U.S. (I confess to not knowing about the "Northern" or Western portions during the summers!) Before central air conditioning, houses like this needed air flow thru the house, and since we have "tropical bugs" in these humid areas, this is what worked!
