Can we put our counter seam here?

We have a kitchen peninsula that is 122" x 33.5", so we have to have a seam somewhere along our Caesarstone countertop. Our counter guy suggests we put the seam in the middle of the sink, but that's a visible, central part of the counter.

There will be an undercounter washer/dryer combo unit on the wall side of the peninsula, and right next to that is our dishwasher. Then a 30" sink cabinet. Since the seam can't go directly over the W/D, we'd like it to be over the 5/8" support between the DW and the W/D.

Is this possible?

Adam we have silestone white Zeus extreme. The seam is very tight but you can see it probably more so than other quartz since there's no movement or speckles to camouflage it. The epoxy (?) in the seam has also yellowed a bit. Mine is almost completely covered so it doesn't bother me but if it was running thorough a large open space it might. I don't know if you have a spot where you plan to leave something out on the counter.

If you have the kind of sink that can handle a seam, I would go for it. Since the sink takes up a large portion of the counter, the seam won't be as long as if it were running the whole width of the peninsula.

Better to have it at the sink. It'll be two short seams.

Thanks for the replies! Our concern is that, because there is a knee wall as well as the base cabinets, there will be a good 10-12" of counter behind the sink. In addition, the bar will be centered right there, so anyone sitting at it will be staring right at the seam. If it's between the W/D and the DW, it will be away from "the action," so to speak.

I can't speak to the exact location you want but I will say we also chose not to have seam at the sink since I considered that to be a focal point and we used a light quartz so it's hard to hide the seam. We centered ours over the garbage pullout and put our dish drying rack over it.

Thanks intown123. We are thinking of going with Pure White. What color do you have? Is white harder to hide the seam?

Can you shorten the peninsula by two inches?

Unfortunately, no. We are in an apartment and there are plumbing and gas lines hidden in the pony wall that can't be moved any further than we already moved them. Our original plan was for a 107" peninsula. The 122" is the shortest they could make it. Is it true you can sometimes eek out a few extra inches on a slab?
