Sliding doors now usually have at least double paned windows with a frame inside giving the appearance of window panes.

With the sliding doors, you can actually put the plants in front of the stationary side of the door and leave them.

With doors that open into the room, you need to have a place to slide the plants out of the way to use the door and that means you cannot put something else in that corner.

With standard windows that open, you get air flow but no access to the outside. With fixed windows that don't open, you get only light -- which you can get from all the windows and doors.

I always like to use bi-fold doors. Now many people are using folding doors for their home to get more space. I have used aluminium bi-fold doors in my house. One company namely prime-bi-fold-doors(dot)co(dot)uk provided all product and installed all doors in my house.

One benefit of a sliding door is that you can integrate a screen - essential in a mosquito zone! Having said that, I HATE the poor quality sliding door in my current house (hard to lock, hard to open, etc.) - my new build has a simple inward-swinging single door.
