BlueStar Platinum Experience ( Eurostoves & 3 year parts/labor)

last modified: 11 years ago

I wanted to share my positive experience in dealing with Eurostoves and Trevor Lawson over the past few months. Trevor was highly knowledgeable about the product line, explained how to compare the Platinum to the competition and was great at follow up and overall customer service. He helped greatly via his participation on this forum as well as via phone. Due to his assistance, I now have my BlueStar Platinum 48" resting comfortably in my garage until my Kitchen remodel is completed (estimated by Nov). I will post pictures upon completion of my project.

As with any of these high-end ranges, the pricing is fixed regardless of where you purchase. But one thing I found out that is a huge differentiator between dealers is - Eurostoves exclusive 3 year parts and labor factory warranty. This compared to other dealers that only have a 1 year.

Any tips and tricks other owners of Bluestar Platinum line, please share. Also I am still looking for the perfect 48" hood (1200cfm).

Good luck and thanks for any input!

Anxious to hear how you like it. When do you plan on getting it installed? I wish I could get a 48". You say you get a better warranty if you buy from Eurostoves?

As of right now, the project starts in August with a Nov 1st target date. I cannot wait! Get in touch with Trevor at Eurostoves. He knows his stuff and the extra factory warranty he offers is hard to beat!

My decision was initially between BS and Capital. I liked the cook top on BS better due to griddle/grill as well as the burner approach. I liked the oven on the Capital. I did not want to get a dual setup, so I selected BS. I cook on top more than oven.

As I indicated, the 3 year factory warranty is even more of a differentiator with Eurostoves. I look forward to your updates!

Hi Ted, William here via my wife's account. We're strongly considering a 48 bluestar platinum range. LOVE the top. Trying to get comfort level with oven. Any critical feedback you could provide would be most helpful. Baking? Roasting? HELP PLEASE?! Thanks!

Going to be perfectly honest here.... I absolutely love the top. The burners, the grill/gridle ability. Perfect. The oven is, well.... just an average oven in my opinion. We had a GE Profile gas convection prior to this and to be honest, I am not sure there is much difference. If I had to error on the side of being conservative, I may even give the GE oven a bit of an edge with regards to even cooking. I love convection, but that plus the inferno that the PowR burner in there brings can make for very dark in back center vs the other parts of the oven. (please note that I have had the upgraded retrofit).

I think if I had to do over again, I would have gotten the top and went another direction for oven. BUT, I still enjoy using the 48" platinum range overall.

Thank you soooo much! We're going to check out RNB range. If not then likley Platinum rangetop and thermador wall ovens. thanks again. do mind if I post your comments to thread I started?

We just installed a 30" BlueStar Platinum range in our new 'downsized' home. I still wanted the ability to use 2 ovens so I opted for a 30" Thermador electric wall oven. I'm looking forward to comparing the gas vs. electric ovens.

Thanks maire_cate! I'd be very interested in your thoughts after you've used both of those.

    Hi Maire_cate, any update? Thanks.

So far just a brief update. Our move-in was delayed and then we left for a week so we've only made a few meals but DH is impressed. He loves the simplicity of the design and the open burners. We did the initial burn off and I'm happy to report the odor was minimal. You could hear the fans cycling on and off but it wasn't distracting, we could carry on a conversation. We've only used the oven once to make an Ina Garten apple cake and it came out great - it was evenly browned on the top. We also installed a Prizer hood with an inline blower and the exhaust fans work well and I really like the light in the hood.

We haven't made anything exotic or used the grill/griddle yet. We're still unpacking and setting up the kitchen. But DH couldn't wait to try out the BlueStar. He made veal and peppers in a 15" Calphalon skillet and was pleased with how evenly the bottom of the pan heated. I made a huge pot of minestrone last week and after bringing the soup to a boil reduced the heat and it simmered beautifully - I didn't use the simmer burner since the soup was in a 15 quart soup pot but the larger BTU burner simmered perfectly.

He's hoping to try the Thermador rotisserie soon.

Here's a photo from the install day - this was before we moved in so everything looks bare and sterile.

It's a small kitchen in an over 55 community and we managed to squeeze in all of our favorites - the Bosch dishwasher is so quiet you wouldn't know it was running except for the red light on the floor. I'm getting used to the 42" Sub Zero too. In our last house we had the 36" all Frig and 36" all Freezer but our kitchen was 28x20 - so we definitely downsized.

We're having the family here for Thanksgiving so that will be our first real test of our appliances and design.

    Have you made a decision?

Beautiful kitchen Marie_cate. What are your countertops?

Thank you wekick. I wanted a softer look to the counters so we went with honed Ice Flake Quartzite. Our fabricator gave us an 18" by 22" piece to take home to test. Half was polished, half honed and we tried vinegar, oil, Dawn, coffee, wine, mustard, water etc. on both halves and let sit overnight - neither side was marred.

My previous kitchen was dark Cordovan cherry cabinets with a busy granite - Juparano Florenzia which was sealed at install 15 years ago and never re-sealed. The stuff was impervious. And when we left our 15 year old Dacor cooktop and double wall ovens were still working well - but we never tried the self clean feature.

DH thought he wanted the Wolf ovens until I showed him all the horror stories here on the GW. There's no way I would take a chance on them.

maire_cate, your new kitchen is gorgeous. I am so happy I got a peek!

Rita - how nice of you to say that. The best part of our downsizing is that both DH and I feel re-invigorated in our new home. It's much smaller than our previous home but we remodeled most of the interior to make it as my DH calls it "our little gem.

And I'm lucky - DH has rediscovered his love of cooking!

Looks great! We're in a holding pattern on new kitchen as we've been underwhelmed at the semi-custom cabinets we've seen and the good contractors in this area are booked solid for the next year. :-( We'll start fresh after the holidays. As for appliances we've mostly settled on 42" French Door Sub Zero fridge with internal ice/water, Bluestar 48 RNB range with 12" griddle, Vent-a-Hood, drawer microwave, existing Bosch DW, and Scottsman Nugget Ice maker. Still need to test cook in RNB oven though before decision is totally final.
