Help me pick a beautiful front door color!
I was planning to paint the doors a rusty orange SW color called Spicey Hue, but now that the house painting is nearly complete, I'm having second thoughts. The stucco is SW Connected Gray, a deep gray-green. The shakes on the second story are stained a sand color. The trim is cream (SW Muslin). Can I go bold with the front door? Turquoise blue? Sunshine yellow? Anything but red, which is currently the color of the side door, pictured below. I'm ready for something new!

11 years agolast modified: 11 years agoMaybe a lime green would be bright and modern and I would paint the side door as well. I'd then add some great lime green accessories on the front porch such as large urns. I would also paint the swing white and add green pillows.

Torture! It is torture to read so many great ideas and know I can only choose one.
Njmomma, lavender close to the house (or in urns on the porch) is brilliant, consider it done. (btw, new landscaping goes in tomorrow; the dying lawn will be removed and replaced with beautiful California native plants. Yay!)
Maureen, I also love the lime-green—a Sherwin-Williams color called Parakeet is definitely in the running.

JudyG, I cannot disagree, Spicey Hue would be a winner. It's a beautiful rich color. I just wish my next-door neighbor's door wasn't painted that color; I think that's why I'm exploring other options. Though in the end I may come back 'round to the Spicey Hue...
Sootsprite, that's my favorite blue, all right. And it's the blue of the backsplash in our kitchen! Another reason I might like a blue door is that the house has a bit of a sea view, so it would be nice to have a coastal touch.
