Njmomma, I confess I hadn't considered purple, since I'm generally not fond of the color, but I have to admit it looks amazing in the photos you've posted. What about a more subdued version, like SW's Exclusive Plum? Would that work?

Maybe a lime green would be bright and modern and I would paint the side door as well. I'd then add some great lime green accessories on the front porch such as large urns. I would also paint the swing white and add green pillows.

Do the spicey hue. SW recommends that color for the connected gray for a reason...it works!

Njmomma, lavender close to the house (or in urns on the porch) is brilliant, consider it done. (btw, new landscaping goes in tomorrow; the dying lawn will be removed and replaced with beautiful California native plants. Yay!)

JudyG, I cannot disagree, Spicey Hue would be a winner. It's a beautiful rich color. I just wish my next-door neighbor's door wasn't painted that color; I think that's why I'm exploring other options. Though in the end I may come back 'round to the Spicey Hue...

Sootsprite, that's my favorite blue, all right. And it's the blue of the backsplash in our kitchen! Another reason I might like a blue door is that the house has a bit of a sea view, so it would be nice to have a coastal touch.
