I have never seen it flower, not even a bud.

Too shady? Maybe you ripped it out each time before it got big enough.

It is in full sun so maybe I did not let it get big enough to set flowers although at one time it was 3 feet high.

Thanks to Tiffany purpleinopp this vine may be history. It is currently steeping in a Round Up cocktail. Put Round Up mixture into a Mason jar, buried it halfway to keep if from tipping, inserted as much of the vine as I could, held the vine in place with chicken wire, covered the whole shebang with a plastic bag to protect it from the elements and secured the bag with rocks. I am going to let it drink for a week!

Best vibes! Pls let us know how it goes. Seems like the most reasonable way to use chems when digging is impossible or unreasonable (and the plant will reach.) Some anecdotes have reports of chunks of vines in neighbors' yards dying, all being connected as one giant entity at the roots.

The vine has been sitting in the Roundup for 6 days now. It looks dead. I am hoping that it has taken it all the way to the roots and I will never see it again. Found bindweed growing in another spot in the yard and going to give it the same treatment.

No animal, just dead leaves.

If you do have "Campsis radicans" , Trumpet Vine, keep in mind that it spreads by seeds as well as rooting, so the new growth you are finding may be from that source and not the roots you dug out. As long as there is one growing, and flowering, in your neighborhood you may see more of these growing in your garden.

kimmq...this vine has never flowered. In previous years, before I decided it had to go, it has grown undisturbed for a full season and never flowered. And this is the exact location of growth each year. Gary...I am not sure what you are seeing but I can assure you when I took the picture there was no animal, no bird, no creature of any sort under the plastic bag. I would have noticed it when I took the picture.
