Distorted top growth of the plant often is symptom of lack of Ca.

These look like indoor plants, so I'm not going to suggest herbicide drift or mites. But there are *many* viruses that cause that behavior in tomatoes, and eggplants will also likely be affected by them. No treatment available. It could also be physiological stress -- over/under watering, wind, etc., but again with an indoor plant that is probably well-tended, I suspect not.

What brand of potting soil are you using? I suspect herbicide damage.

Agree that if these plants have ever been outside then they were exposed to weedkillers OR the potting soil is contaminated with some sort of weed killer.

If they have never been outside and if the potting soil is not contaminated then it is a calcium deficiency as is often common in plants that are grown inside.

Cause aside, the damaged portions of the plants need to be removed so that new growth can take its place if possible.

Damage such as that is typical of herbicide carryover in organic matter.

From what others have posted this year, the stuff is in some commercially packaged stuff. Another common source is manure, composted or not.

I hope you have some extra potting mix left. If so, run a bio-assay to determine if it is contaminated.

I have tomatoes in and out, but it was easier to take a picture of the ones in. I have 2 egg plants and both are in, the other one is in much better shape, but may have just started to show similar signs at the very top.

The soil on the inside is a mix of the stuff that came with the plants, Miracle Grow potting soil and some top soil from a local delivery.

The outside garden has some horse manure from the neighbor and a some of the same load of top soil.

The pictures from wsu here seem to match, so I am now suspecting that the top soil had Aminopyralid's in it.

I checked with the owner of the horses and they use Chaparral for spot spraying in their pastures and on their hay fields, so that could also be a source, but there is no horse poop in the inside pots, and the top soil is in both places.

This will be a big pain as we have filled 6 large garden boxes (4' x 12' 18" high) with this stuff, so removal and replacement will be a challenge to say the least. Is a long time the only alternative to replacing the soil?
