Sounds a good idea, can you have too many fridges.

Butler pantry, I think would be more useful than a desk. Pantry would be used everyday by the family not just on special occasions, We have a peninsula between the kitchen and dining room and one corner of it is set up as a beverage/ bar and it is in constant use. Pop, juice, water pitcher and liqueurs and bar supplies. Guests compliment the display. Saves having to set it all up when company is expected. Electronics move around the house anyway throughout the day. A drawer or tray could be the home for those items in a lower traffic area.

I'm going to be the voice of dissension here and say office nook. In looking at your plans I see you already have a VERY ample sized pantry in the kitchen. I just really think you'd get more use from a small office space. Everyone needs a spot to pay bills, read mail, maybe a spot for a child to do homework. This spot is perfect in my opinion. But the bottom line is...do what makes you happy! It's your house!

Another vote for a butler's pantry. The office would just be a clutter catcher (if it were mine) but I use my butler's pantry for all those overflow appliances, etc. This lets me keep my kitchen counters uncluttered and calm. Not a gorgeous picture (I haven't tidied), but here's what mine looks like.

I have a large kitchen and pantry. I thought a butlers pantry would be a good choice opening into our formal dining room and also near the main living area. I never use it! I store dishes there but I have room for them in the kitchen or buffet. I have an office, but I still wish id used that space to bring in mail, bills, maybe the junk drawer lol. No matter how much space I have, it seems the mail/junk ends up in the kitchen! I wish i'd used that space for an organized place to put those type things and to have a convenient laptop, out of the kitchen. Life lessons. I hate to redo that expensive area but I've considered it. Good luck!:)

Our house plan says we have a "wine bar," but it's really the "clutter catcher." It's easy to clear the clutter and set up the bar when we need to, and helps but doesn't eliminate clutter on the kitchen island.

I have always seen a butler's pantry near a dining room. The original idea was for the butler to serve and clear from there, then transport dishes, etc. to the kitchen for clean up. The walk-in pantry in your kitchen will be used as storage for food, and some infrequently used small appliances, smaller coolers, baskets, etc. The butler's pantry noted is next to the living room--unless that should say dining room? I think it is too remote to be used as a beverage center, and would be too crowded with party traffic in that back hall. That hall does double-duty as the mud room--a utility area. You have a small space for the mud room (not sure if you have kids?). That will fill up quickly with coats, shoes, and sports equipment. Backpacks, school papers, mail, purse, wallet, keys tablet and phone chargers--they all need a home close to the every-day entry. I don't think the space needs a traditional desk, but does need a 'business' zone for all those items. 1-2 file drawers, some cookbook shelves/recipe files. calendar, schedules, etc. could be on a cork board inside an upper cabinet, so it can be easy to see, but not look cluttered.

My idea, put a pocket door to the mud room on the common wall with the living room. open most of the time, but can be closed when company comes, so they don't see the mud mess. open a doorway to the living room just in front of the cabinetry on the common wall with the walk in pantry--the cabinetry on that wall can be used as the butlers pantry. You have ample counter space left and right of the stove, a huge island, and the entire refrigerator wall. that way, the butlers pantry can do double duty as a station for cocktails at the beginning of a party, and coffee/dessert at the end. Yes, consider an under-counter beverage center, that has a couple shelves dedicated to wine storage, with the rest for drinks or appetizers. and yes, the fridge in the laundry is also a good idea. Our plan will have some lockers and shelves upon entering from the garage but then we will have a pocket door into the laundry area. I feel like these areas for large parties will be picked up (just the way we are) so not overly worried about people seeing a book bag on a hook. We decided to not have another formal dining because our kitchen dining area is so big it will fit our large table and even with its extended leaves. So we thought the living room would serve as a nice sitting area for our larger parties for people to gather with drinks and snacks. So the butler pantry would more so be a place to have wine bottles, mixers, display glasses etc. I am open to a beverage or wine fridge there. A couple drawers? or drawers including a file cabinet one on the other side?? My actual pantry in the kitchen is where I plan to hold the appliances not used all the time and seasonal/ holiday plates type stuff. Does this make sense? Do you think this would work? We thought a full fridge in laundry would be nice for party platters, cakes etc in addition to drinks for people enjoying the back porch to come in use restroom, grab a drink... I do have a small counter height black wood bar from pottery barn. It is very simple drawer, x for bottle storage, shelf for glasses.....
