How high do you hang a hammock?

Preparing to install my new hammock....where on my 6 by 6 cedar posts do I install my hardware????

    Hello! Beautiful choice of hammock!

    Minimum required distance to hang this particular hammock is 11 ft 10 in. You must find two posts or points that are at least 11 ft 10 in apart.

    The height of suspension must be approximately half of the suspension distance. So, if your hammock is suspended across 12 ft total, the suspension should be hung from a point approximately 6 feet from the ground.


    A hammock properly suspended has the shape of a banana while hanging (without a person inside). A hammock strung too tightly is not as comfortable.

    TIP: the correct way to lie in a hammock is diagonally. Your body will open the fabric widely and your back will be straighter.
