Sorry, don't have anything to photograph since I've been pulling it up everyday as it pops up. It's common nut sedge. Last year I quit pulling all the ones that were in-between the tiger lilies and some seeded. This year we've had record rain, which I think all the damp ground is promoting it even more. Pics are from Internet but is exactly what I have. Parts of garden beds are hard to reach (far, deep away from the front of the bed and no pathways to the back of the bed) so some of those are getting left in instead of pulled. What is the major harm of leaving them? Will it eventually take over the flowers (all perennials). I think the veg garden will be mostly harvested by the time the sedge seeds so I could just pull it up when I clean out the veg plot. Will it suck all the nutrients from the soil for flowers, shrubs and vegs? I'm just tired of weeding them nearly daily. Thanks.

Sedges evolved growing in wet lands but have adapted to many other environments, although more often than not I see this growing where an irrigation system is that provides daily watering but seldom see them growing where watering is less frequent.

The best method of control is to pull the plants out being sure to get all of the root system including the "nuts" formed on the roots.

If you pull it out you are probably leaving behind the nut. Then it can regrow. If it's in a lawn you have a problem and I don't know how to kill it without killing the lawn. I have used a nutsedge spray that seems to work but I have only been spraying in an area without lawn. Just bare dirt.
