    Yes. It's a feature often seen in period stoves.

    I am remodeling my kitchen and am keeping my OKM stove . I live in SF and currently I have an exhaust tube coming out the top of the stove. Can I remove that and use a hood instead? Why did you decide to go with the stove pipe instead of the hood?

    My understanding is that the flue coming from the range is to vent the products of combustion straight to the exterior. (Older stoves are less efficient and don't burn the gas completely). So it would be hazardous to remove it. It does not replace the function of an exhaust hood for removing kitchen cooking odors.
