There are occasions when "not modern" is a blessing.

Slip covers aren't going to work unless they are custom made to fit the cushions. You're not going to find ready-made ones that will be suitable for this.

A new slipcover would definitely look great for the living room and the couch too! There are a lot of stores online that makes custom slipcovers for old sofas , us too ( https://comfort-works.com/en/custom-sofa-cover-loose-couch-slipcover-17 ).

I'd suggest either something with a cleaner look (white,beige)

or a slipcover with a slight colour burst (Red, orange)

Both ways it'll look different in a good way :)
