2015 July Block Lotto

last modified: 11 years ago

Welcome to the JULY Block Lotto!

The lotto is open to all, and new quilters are encouraged to participate. You will learn much and have fun doing it. Typically, the winner receives enough blocks to complete a nice size quilt. It could be YOU!

Here's the drill:

- you can send 1, 2 or 3 blocks

- all blocks must measure 12.5inches x 12.5inches with no more than 1/4" variation please. With your blocks include name, mailing address, forum name and $1 to cover postage for the winning blocks

- if possible, either attach your name to the back of each block or write your name in the seam allowance with a fabric pen so the winner knows who made the block (this is not a requirement, just a request)

- all blocks received by the last day of the month will be included in the lotto drawing

- you will have 1, 2 or 3 chances to win, depending on how many blocks you've sent in.

- Be sure to post here that you are sending blocks so Linda will keep her eyes open for your package!

Blocks are to be mailed to Linda. She will arrange the collection and dispersal to the winner. If you need her mailing address, you may request it by sending her a message at linda at schultz-assoc.com

Hi all, I've been lurking for awhile and would like to give this a try. It seems like you are having so much fun I'd like to join in. I've been a quilter for awhile, but, haven't done anything like this yet. I'll send Linda a message to get the mailing address to participate for July.

My blocks are on the way to Linda! Didn't get pictures though. I should have. The winner of this one gets a little "bonus" with my blocks. Its nothing special, just something that should give you a laugh for the day....

Got two blocks from NMquilter today (plus a hilarious story of how they got here) so we have quite a nice pile growing. The month is early, girls. This will make a fun quilt.

Will pop in the mail this week...v

Got three more blocks today from Patty in Florida. Lovely blocks. We're up to 19 now. This would make a lovely "Quilts of Valor" gift if the winner didn't want the finished quilt. In any case, the pile is growing.

Please accept my apologies for forgetting to include postage with my blocks. We were preparing to leave for a couple of weeks so I was in a hurry to get them in the mail. It just now dawned on me that I didn't include any money. I will rectify that as soon as we return home where my addresses are available. Sooooo sorry! It would seem that age is creeping up on me......lol.

Well the time has come. I had my 95 yr old Mom draw the numbered token and the whole 26 blocks are going out to Nancy Morris in Kansas. Congratulations, Nancy.

As you know, I'm up in Oregon preparing a move to assisted living for Mom. I'll mail your blocks Tuesday when I get home, Nancy.

Thanks to all who participated. And, I thank the DH who carefully opened the envelopes and helped with the tally. Now on with August.

Wow...Congrats, Nancy!! They are soooo pretty!

Got home today and sent off your blocks, Nancy. I see I gave one person credit for three when she'd only sent two but she confirmed and it didn't affect the numbers I had to draw from. So, you'll still get 25.

I'm glad that I was able to get this done as it looks like I'm about to catch a plane right back. Things don't look good. Keep fingers crossed.
