Way too high. Needs to be eye level. And, truly, you probably need a larger piece for that wall. Might consider moving the painting elsewhere and going with a larger piece or gallery wall or mirror or something to fill the vast space.

wow. That sounds expensive lol. I will bring it eye level for now and shop around for a gallery wall maybe. I agree the space is vast and it seems the painting looks kind of lonely up there :-/

Any piece of art should be at eye level when you stand in front of it (at least that's the rule of thumb). And you can make a wonderful, huge piece of art by finding a fabulous piece of material, stretch it over a simple art frame, and staple it on the back.

Thank you guys for the suggestions. Another question, I want to add an accent chair to my living room. What color chair/pillow combo should I go with? I was thinking orange because of my painting. Or maybe a navy blue with an orange pillow? I'm not sure. I want to add color and bring this room together. Also, what style chair? Arm, slipper, chaise..etc.

P.s. We haven't gotten coffee table set yet. Working on it.

Hi Summer...its me, the Old Gray Mare, again. In my vast (ha!) experience of decorating numerous living spaces (career Army, so have lived in many, many houses/apartments...I've learned that buying the big pieces (sofas, chairs) it's best to stick to neutrals. Color is easily added with accessories (pillows, rugs, curtains, artwork). If you buy an orange chair, then change the art on the wall to put up something either larger, or doing a gallery wall arrangement, you may find that the orange chair is no longer the best color. Stick to the basics...you'll never get tired of them.....add color in little bits.

Summer, your art is still too high, although it does look better. When others said eye level, they mean the center of your art should be eye level. Of course, you could be reallllly tall, lol!

Wow thank you guys for awesome advice. I love this website! Everyone is so helpful! Okay, so I got that my painting still needs to be brought down some. At this point it is about 25 inches from the bottom of the painting to the back of the sofa. It just seems like it will be SO low at 4-6 inches. I imagine my toddler will be trying to grab it and poke at it. I will make the change though if that is the rule of thumb. Also, great advice about the accent chairs! Thank you all!

I agree with lefty47. This style and size of art should hang lower than eye level. Also if you wish you could find another painting, same size as the one you have with similar subject matter, or design then hang them next to each other.
