Hope to get some blocks done.

We had to have our cat put to sleep yesterday, so I was awake a good part of the night fretting about it. I got up around one and went downstairs and finished cutting the components for four blocks. This morning, I started chain piecing, thought I ran out of one unit, cut some more, sewed again and then realized, I had made a slight boo-boo. Picked out stitches and left them all next to the machine. I was wider awake at one than I am right now.

I will take a little rest and then go back at it.

I am heads down putting together a quilt for a grandson to take to college. It will go off to the longarmer so I want to get it in their system to have it done in time. It's a simple pattern, just square-in-a-square patterns, so it will go together quickly. My fourth is quiet and close to home so I'm enjoying the leisure time.

I do plan to quilt this weekend. I spent most of today cutting up more scraps into strips. I swear those things multiply in the basket... After cutting them all into strips, I find that I have 2 reusable grocery bags full of strings. I guess I will be making some, and by some I mean a million LOL, string blocks. I have Wild Child on the frame and hope to finish quilting it tomorrow, then I will load Grand Illusion. When both of those are quilted, I will go on a binding spree. After finishing those two that will make 6 to bind. They are going to be Christmas gifts so I haven't worried about binding, but they are getting on my nerves now. I guess I will be making string blocks at retreat this year :) There are probably several quilts in these bags.

This week my F-I-L got shelves installed in my 2nd smaller sewing room closet and DH had them painted earlier this week, so I spent majority of yesterday unpacking 8 or 9 boxes and put things away in the closet. Still have more unpacking to do this summer. Got most of our art work hung this week, but still need to hang family photos later this summer. We got trim installed our full bath this week, will be reglazing our tub Monday and then toward the end of next week it will get painted and then we should be done with that project. Later in the year DH wants to renovate my sewing room and laundry room, which I am excited to have done, but my sewing closets will be sealed during that time to avoid construction dust, so I am trying to figure out what supplies from the closets I will need for projects that I can get ahead of time. Have been working on my Granny Square Quilt blocks for my RV quilt and quilted Christmas ball ornaments which will be for my Mom's Christmas present and will continue to work on these 2 things this weekend. Some of my family is coming to my house this afternoon and we are picking up seafood to serve at my house. I just could not sleep this morning, so I got up at 7am and cut up 2 cantelopes to chill in the frig for dessert this evening. Webster's online dictionary used to be free, but when I checked it just now they are starting to charge for the use of it...... guess it's a good thing I kept my Webster's dictionary and thesaurus books from college. Hope everyone has a Happy 4th of July!

I hope to get View from the Cabin re-quilted this weekend. The edges are a little frayed from being handled so much, so I may have to trim them a bit before I bind it. (This is the one my neighbor un-quilted after her dog ate a hole in it.) I can't wait to get it done and washed. It still has a bit of dog smell to it and then there are all the needle holes from the original quilting.

If I work on any quilts, it will be tomorrow. I need to shorten a pair of slacks for granddaughter-in-law before they return home tomorrow. Didn't get home til late last night.......the party for DH is this afternoon so will need to see if I have any hot pink thread on a bobbin and do that this morning. If not, I just might go with red.

Theresa, so sorry about your kitty. Amazing how our fur babies become part of our family - it takes time to heal. Probably no sewing for me this weekend. Trying to get some chores done around the house before BBQ and fireworks tonight. Tomorrow I am leaving for a couple days to go see my Sis and BIL, nephew & family & other relatives in SW Colorado. Leaving DH home with our dog. (He is fine with that!) I've had my convertible for 11 years and never taken it on a road trip so tomorrow will be its first real highway test! Looking forward to that!! (Hope the highway patrol doesn't see me as I go whizzing by!!!)

Thanks friends! Toby was 12 years old and has been failing for a short time. Every time I go near the back door, I expect to see him sitting there. And who will help me arrange blocks now! I was laying some blocks out this morning and thinking that very thing.

The throw is on HIS chair.

This was our 7th cat and I think we are finished.

Oh Theresa...so sorry about Toby, our furry friends become such a part of our lives it's hard when we have to let them go.

I've been sewing most of Friday and today...will post Pics in a separate post...looking for opinions.

HI ladies!! I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, but feel like I could be more productive if I had! lol

This weekend was my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. There was a party near their place in Annapolis on Friday night, after which we got the kids settled at their house for a sleepover with cousins, aunts/uncles, etc. DH & I drove the 1 1/2hrs home for a quiet night/morning. After breakfast, I went back up to visit with family for the day, a short boat ride w/swim in the bay, and then stayed for fireworks over their little bay.

Made for a VERY late night home last night with 4 sleepy kids (1 with rub burns on her thighs from swim noodles, and another sporting a 101+ fever). Today included rest, tidying and baths.

I did get the oldest DD to sew up two quilt blocks and some strip sets. We're sending quilt blocks to a girl scout in NC who is making quilts for her gold award project! And I spent what felt like hours, sewing badges & patches on 4 different girl scout vests (2 newly-retired, and 2 new for next year). I think I might be done for awhile.

Tomorrow brings us back to school work for the kids!
