I am lost, someone please explain why this is happening

my family and I are traveling right now, and we get a call from the person who is taking care of our dogs in the middle of the night saying that our eldest dog - abbey's (11 y/o,mixed breed) back legs are paralyzed and she's lying on the ground barely breathing, there is also uncontrollable diarrhea In small amounts.

Can anyone explain why these things are happening, or what disease she may have? And what are the chances of survival?? We haven't had a check up at the vet in quite a while... I just hope she makes it past 4 days until we can get home.

I am not a vet, but there are lots of reasons this could happen. Lime disease from a tick if the dog is active and exposed to those types of eliments. Dogs are also good at hiding illness, it could have an underlying infection that you didn't detect. Or it could be a tumor which based on your dogs age would not be uncommon.

Why can't the person who is watching your dog take her to the vet immediately? Your dog needs to be seen NOW, not 4 days from now.

Oh, gosh, it didn't register that you were going to wait 4 days to get your dog to the Vet!! NO, I agree, if you're unable to get home, you need to find someone to get it to the Vet immediately as in last night when you got the call. Can't the care taker take it to the Vet?

If your dog is still alive, she absolutely needs to be taken to a veterinary hospital NOW, as in NOW!!!

The dog needs a vet NOW. It is animal neglect and cruelty to withhold necessary medical care for an animal. You are liable to be prosecuted for neglect/abuse if you do not have the caretaker get her to a vet. You can pay by Credit card/western union. But she needs to see a vet. Even if to just put her down if you can't afford treatment.
