Brandi, Thank you so much for your time and thoughts. We love this house but I really need natural light. Most of the rooms have great lighting except the living room. The windows on the left face a wall so very little light comes in from there. The windows on the right face a patio and courtyard which does give light. The front of the photo is off the entry way which faces the street. I thought the back (toward the arch) is where I would istall it so you could not see it from the street. Love your ideas.

I cannot answer your design question, but I love that house! Personally, I would not add a skylight. I would find another lighting solution and buy the house!

Have you asked? I have never heard of one done with a tile roof. I believe they have taken care of most leakage problems, but I would hate to have integrity of expensive roof damaged. I also love your house. I have not seen more than one room, but is there another solution like changing the living room to a brighter one? I believe the darkness is on purpose to make the room cooler believing it would get the most use.

look into solar tubes-they are smaller openings through the roof and use mirrors to proje6cg light into a room

You posted about five houses you are purchasing. What's with that? If you have a question, just ask once. No need to have five posts with the same question, were you hoping for more opinions.

It was actually the same house but yes many different postings. I'm new to posting and kept finding better places for my question. I got the system figured out now and it won't happen again.

Great house. A skylight... Or even two on the back,side of the ridge would be perfectly appropriate. I have installed skylights I'm three house over the past twenty five years. The newer modern skylights, such as Velux, are made for tile roofs and have a minor, minor chance of leaking in the future. You won't regret!

I have also installed a total of 5 Sola Tubes in two differs houses. They work well but just not the same as a skylight.

Kathy Skilton- we toured several homes with solar tubes and I loved the light they provided- inside a home they appear to be electric lights- we just bought a home with skylights as part of the original build- skylights fade furniture, flooring etc over time. We are looking into a protective film for that problem. Good luck with your project- I'd love to see pictures of your finished project!!

One of your posts with the same question is a two story, white house with tile roof and turquoise windows. Which house did you purchase?
