They do very well here, and seem to be relatively disease and bug free. That fertilizer regime sounds good. They do tend to get long branches as they continue to flower, and I've had good luck by pinching back the longer ones, not all at once but sort of stagger it out through the season. That and keep the soil relatively moist.

Yes, petunias are one the most reliable container-garden plants that I have had. They tolerate the dry, hot, and often windy conditions of the Denver metro area. They do not appreciate being forgotten. They like water every day. I put a fertilizer in when I plant, and then once or twice a week I give them a water-soluble bloom boost type fertilizer. I happen to like Age Old "Bloom", but it's up to you.

I agree on the pinch. They get leggy and then don't look so good. But sometimes I don't have the heart to pinch when they are blooming. But I know it will be good to do it.

I love Age Old but not sure it says 'bloom' on mine - have to look again. I know it's very low NPK so I use it pretty often. And yes Popmama it's hard to pinch - especially when four or five blossoms are just opening. But it has to be done or they look worthless by August 1. Last year I replace them with ornamental cabbages around August 15 - September 1. LOVE the pic, David52. - OMG those colors!
