Juniper issues

Hi folks and thanks for taking the time to try to help me!

I believe I own some sort of juniper that is not looking good. I am in zone 5b, greater Montreal area. I could not tell you how old this tree is, but I don't believe it has ever received any maintenance, though I did cut some lower branches that were pretty dead looking and in my way... It is situated in a southwest location and gets lots of sun.

Can you help me confirm the identity of this specimen so I can research it and figure out how I might be able to get it back in shape? I will otherwise probably remove it as it is not very pretty right now.

In case the images don't show it very well, there are either three trees or the tree has three trunks. The branches are all dried up, but there is a little bit of bluish "foliage" or "needles" (not sure what they are called) at the tips, which I suppose is this year's new growth.

Here's a closeup:

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
