i have seen several large trees, e.g. Japanese maple, sold at various garden centers and big box stores.. Not sure if they would ever be cheap though. even if the tree is affordable the planting is pretty steep.

You have options!!

1. Relocate existing trees.

When we did an addition to our house, the fig tree ( yes it was 2 story high!!) had to be removed. So, we had them pull it out, prune it, and relocate it to another area in my backyard.. It is doing pretty well... has figs on it. .

if they have not already taken down the trees. You can either save them, or relocate, That is, if you like the ones you already have.

2. Plant the ones that grow fast and you like too. Then, wait for them to grow..

This is a better option. as you get to select the plants.

I would be on the lookout for clearance too at these places in summer.

Before I realize that I can replace the plants, All the trees has been cut down. there are 3-4 trees on the fence. I am trying to save them.

Do you know what these trees are? Are these fast growing trees?

The first one seems to be the sweet gum..

the rest I am not so sure...

I feel your pain bunti.. I lost a lot of trees to Hurricane Fran and it has weakened some of the others too..

You may want to look for fast growing smaller trees..

I will try and save a few maple seedlings that grow big ( these are not small japanese maples) ... I see them quite often in my yard... Beautiful fall colors..

There are some landscape trees saplings that the Master gardeners give out sometimes... around arbor day, several orgs , give them away..

save the topsoil for your vegetable and fruit gardens... Hehe. They may take it away..
