Hood height help

Hi everyone. I've never had a proper exhaust hood before, but by the time we move in I will be the proud owner of a 750 cfm Kobe.

My question is regarding height. The instructions say between 26" (or is it 24?) and 30" off the cooking surface. I'm 5'4" and the only cook for now (my kids may end up taller than me). Any recommendation for mounting height? I have absolutely no idea.

Thank you!

Shameless bump because I really need some help! :-)

I don't think that sounds right. I thought 36 inch for gas. I don't think 26 is right at all

Just checked. Installation manual says minimum 26-30 from countertop to wood frame of hood. Even that is somewhat confusing though. Is it a minimum of "26-30 and then you can go over that" or is it "a minimum of 26 and you can go up to 30?"

I'm 5' tall and do most of the cooking; DH is 5'10".

I set my 42" 1100cfm Kobe hood at 29" from the countertop/36" induction cooktop and love it.

DH doesn't mind ducking down, or keeping his head out of the hood area.

Of course, we should follow the manufacturer's directions. If they aren't clear, call them.

kiwi-mine is at 30 but I am 5'7, dh 6'3. I think it's perfect at my height. If I lean in I don't have to worry about hitting my head on the rim. 26" would seam really low. I panicked that it was too high after we installed (by then you about panic with every little thing) but I am very pleased with where it's at.

I think it's 26-30" in placement. Higher than 30 and I'm not sure it would be as effective at removing smells?

If it says 24 to 30, then 24 is minimum and 30 is maximum height. You should try and stay within that height range.

IIRC, your hood will be stand alone with no uppers beside it. From reading on the appliance forum, it needs to be oversized for your range size or installed as low as possible within comfort limits. Can you mock it up?
